Who are we?
The UT Navigators International Student Fellowship is a community of international students and scholars at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Our group is diverse and offers opportunities for friendship with other international students and with local American families as well. As a Christian organization, we also provide opportunities for spiritual, moral and ethical development. All international students and scholars at the University of Tennessee are invited to participate in our activities!
Why do we call ourselves a Fellowship?
The New Testament section of the Bible was originally written in Greek. The English word “fellowship” is translated from the Greek word “koinonia.” The most complete definition of “koinonia” is “people who come together to share things in common.” We come together to eat dinner together, have conversation, for activities such as hiking or sports activities and also for bible reading and discussion. These are things that we share in common even though we are a diverse group of many different nationalities, languages and academic majors.
Who are the Navigators?
We are a part of the international Navigator ministry and have the following calling and core values:
To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
We value . . .
- The passion to know, love and become like Jesus Christ.
- The truth and sufficiency of the Scriptures for the whole of life.
- The transforming power of the Gospel.
- The leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit.
- Expectant faith and persevering prayer rooted in the promises of God.
- The dignity and value of every person.
- Love and grace expressed among us in community.
- Families and relational networks in discipling the nations.
Interdependent relationships in the Body of Christ in advancing the Gospel.
